....described as surprising, what is perhaps is that the only club to match them is Tadley Calleva, newly-promoted this season.

After two home wins their first game on the road resulted in a single goal victory at Brockenhurst in front of the highest attendance of the day with Sam Hamilton the scorer.

Cowes Sports had also won their first two games but the found the much improved Baffins Milton Rovers too strong going down 4-1 on the mainland.

Hamble Club and Alresford Town met for the third time in eight days and again the former came out on top winning 3-0 to leave the Arlebury Park club with no points and just one goal to date.

Hamworthy United won a close encounter with Horndean by the odd goal in three with Nathan Walker scoring twice and Bournemouth FC continued their impressive start to the season with a 4-3 win at Team Solent.

Steve Flynn has carried his goalscoring skills in to the Premier Division and claimed three of the Poppies’ goals, whilst Hisham Kasimu scored twice for the Students.

Another decent attendance at Portland United, 134, saw an Alex Halloran goal give the home side victory over AFC Portchester and Lymington Town followed up their midweek Cup victory with a two-goal win at Andover New Street who are still looking for their first point.

Bemerton Heath Harlequins did claim their first point of the season but it was so nearly three as Bashley scored in second half stoppage time to level matters while Fareham Town, finally, were another side going in to the day without a point to their name but they claimed three with a 2-0 defeat of Shaftesbury at Cams Alders.

Though in fairness they have played more games than most, Verwood Town will be enjoying looking down from the top of the table in Division One, after spending virtually all of last season in the bottom two, and a goal in first half stoppage time was enough to give them victory over Follands Sports and nine points out of twelve overall.

Follands, meanwhile, have played two and lost two. AFC Stoneham have also only played two and an impressive 3-1 success at Alton Town maintained their 100 per cent record.

Amesbury Town, finding life at the lower level to their liking, followed up their midweek win at Laverstock & Ford with a 4-0 defeat of Fawley – two goals for Jordan Matthewa – whilst Laverstock went down again, this time by the odd goal in three at US Portsmouth.

New Milton Town lost for the first time as East Cowes Vics won 3-0 at Beatrice Avenue and also on the Island, in the game between the two relegated clubs Newport IoW defeated Petersfield Town 2-0.

Hythe & Dibden took their goal tally for the season to eleven in sharing six goals at Ringwood Town where there were six different names on the scoresheet, but Andover Town still remain without a point after going down 4-0 to Downton at the Portway Stadium with Shaun Prentice scoring twice for the visitors.

The game between Totton & Eling and Whitchurch was postponed because of pitch problems.
