....a win at Glossop North End on Saturday, suffered a 4-2 defeat at The Kensite Stadium against Colwyn Bay on Monday night.
But it was a tough night for the Lancastrians who dominated the game and hit the bar three times until goalkeeper Greg Hartley was controversially dismissed.
It was Colls who took a 14th minute lead when Ben Hardcastle slammed the ball into the roof of the net after Bay `keeper Paddy Wharton has done well to keep out an Adam Farrell header.
Bay levelled after 28 minutes when Hartley was given no chance as an Ashley Ruane header glanced into the bottom corner from a cross from the left.
The game turned 8 minutes before the break.
Hartley was handed his marching orders following a punt upfield by his opposite number Paddy Wharton allowed Ruane in behind the Colls defence, forcing Hartley to come rushing towards the attacker to avert the danger. The striker then tried to chip the ball over the goalkeeper who was now outside his area. The effort hit Hartley across the face and away from danger.
The assistant`s flag was up and after consulting the referee, Hartley was sent for an early shower for allegedly handling the ball outside the area
Right-back Dave Sherlock took over goalkeeping responsibilities.
Despite this set-back and their considered injustice, Colls went into the break 2-1 up when a cross by sub Devon Golden found Connor Gaul to score in the 42nd minute.
The ten-men held onto that lead until just past the hour-mark when Bay equalised with a close-range finish from Ruane.
And 3 minutes later, Bay had the lead when a cross-cum-shot from Tom McCready went straight in past Sherlock.
And the visitors, who also won on the opening day, made it back-to-back three points 6 minutes from time when Callum Hassan headed number four the ball past Sherlock from close range. |
