Howell
has retained the services of the likes of Sergio Torres, Kane Wills, Yemi
Odubade, Harry Ransom and Lloyd Dawes, while goalkeeper Mark Smith will be back
at Priory Lane next season.
He
will be joined by two players new to The Sports.
David
Martin, 33, began his career in Sussex with Brighton & Hove Albion, before
returning back to his native South London with Slade Green in 2004 and then
Dartford in 2005.
Whilst
with the Darts, Martin (pictured) scored 14 goals in 68 appearances over two seasons -
form which attracted the attention of then-Championship side Crystal Palace,
who he joined for a fee of £25,000, although he was restricted to only 14
appearances at Selhurst Park.
He
made the switch across South London to Millwall in 2008, where he made 90
appearances, scoring 9 goals.
He
then had spells with Derby County, Notts County and Walsall before joining
Southend United in 2012, making 31 appearances during a year in Essex.
Spells
with Luton Town, Bristol Rovers and Stevenage followed before being signed by
Steve King at Whitehawk where he became a crucial part of the Hawks’ famous FA
Cup run to the Second Round in 2015 and helping them to the National League South
play-offs in 2016.
He
left shortly afterwards for Bromley, before joining Bostik Premier side Margate
on loan - a move which he made permanent last season, before leaving this summer.
Charlie
Walker, 28, also hails from Sussex and began playing senior football with
Shoreham before moving onto Lancing, helping them to finish second in the
Sussex County League.
He
then moved to then-Isthmian Premier League side Whitehawk before continuing to
move eastwards to join Peacehaven & Telscombe, becoming an important part
of the side which won the Isthmian Division One South title and the Sussex
Senior Cup in the 2013/14 season - a season in which Walker scored 43 goals
which attracted attention of Football League clubs.
He
ended up signing with then-League Two side Luton Town in the summer of 2014 and
made 6 appearances with The Hatters before joining Boreham Wood on loan for the
remainder of the 2014/15 season, where he played in the Conference South play-off
final against a former side in Whitehawk.
Along
with Boreham Wood, Walker played National League football the next season,
signing for Aldershot Town where in two seasons he made 59 appearances, scoring
17 goals.
After
leaving The Shots by mutual consent in January 2017, he signed for St Albans
City on a year-and-a-half contract and he made 67 appearances for The Saints,
scoring 16 goals before leaving in the summer.
With
Lloyd Dawes and Yemi Odubade already committed to next season and with Charlie
Walker adding to the attacking options, Jamie Taylor has left Eastbourne to
pursue his career elsewhere.
Howell
told the club`s website: "Jamie was great for me last season. He was
always committed and will be remembered fondly at Eastbourne Borough. But with
the quality of strikers we have and the addition of Charlie Walker I understand
his need and desire to play regular football which I cannot guarantee at this
time".
