Buckhurst Hill picked up a useful win against Premier Division Champions Catholic United as Richard Akinlade (2) and Steve Townsend bagged the goals that registered a 3-1 home success.

 

A Brad Freeman brace plus goals from Josh Bardouleau and Tom Price helped Hutton beat Manford Way 4-1; Canning Town beat Old Southendian by the same score line which included a hat-trick from Reece Morgan with Beko Dushku also notching.

 

Old Southendian now sit in the bottom two after losing their opening two league fixtures.

 

Sungate won 3-2 at Kelvedon Hatch courtesy of goals from Nick Muir, Reece Simpson and Reece Clarke, who provide the winner.

 

Springfield shared a point with Rayleigh Town as their game ended in a 1-1 draw with Ross Lamb scoring the Springfield goal.

 

The Division One season got underway and Basildon Town, winners of Division One in 2016/17, made a winning start to the new campaign having dropped back down after a one-season stint in the Premier Division.

 

Alfie Phillips, Jimmy Markham, Sener Suavi and Jamie Miller all provided goals that saw them record an opening day 4-1 win over Frenford Reserves.

 

Rayleigh Town Reserves started their season with a 3-1 win over Herongate Athletic with Charlie Legg’s brace being added to by Oliver Ventura.

 

And Ongar Town also got off to a winning start as their visit to FC Hamlets ended in a 2-1 win.

 

Ben Stone and Ben Polley supplied the Ongar goals which cancelled out Charlie Heatly’s goal for the hosts.

 

In Division Two, Lakeside were the only side that registered a win as the other games all ended in draws.

 

Lakeside beat Ryan 3-0 with Drew Klessa-Smith, who has been scoring quite freely in recent seasons, opening his 2018/19 goalscoring account with a hat-trick.

 

Dave Watson scored both Rochford Town goals in a 2-2 draw with Newham United, who saw Lamar Obinkwo net both of theirs.

 

Runwell Sports had to share a point with Upminster despite taking the lead on three occasions.

 

Glenn Longman, Jack Main and John Smithwick were the Runwell marksmen.

 

In Division Three, Leigh Town opened their season with a 4-1 win at Wakering Sports as George Darby’s brace was added to by Zac Mashford and Ashley Sexton. Paul Wines scored the Wakering Sports consolation.

 

Another club making their maiden Olympian League berth this season is Laindon Orient and their opening fixture saw them lose 3-2 at home to Roydon.

 

The visitors saw Lewis Watson and Jordan Handscomb score from long-range, while Charlie Ryder provided the winner with the last kick of the game.

 

Laindon Orient’s goals were supplied by Rodney Sarsah-Wilson and Ash Blackburn.

 

White Ensign Reserves also got off to a winning start as Perry Osborne and Harry Somerset-Butler hit the target against Old Chelmsfordians Reserves.

 

The OCs were able to get back on level terms, thanks to a Martin Mixture goal.

 

Toby overcame Collier Row in the Preliminary Round of the Senior League Cup with a 6-2 victory.

 

Des Gallen, Paul Carr and Arron Watson-McNab all scored twice apiece with Jake Skeet and Kalem Clarke supplying the Collier Row strikes.
