The former Coventry City and MK Dons man made over 100 appearances in the SkyBet Championship and spent a decade playing in the Football League.
He started his career with Liverpool before being released and joining his home-town team, Prescot Cables.
In 2003 he signed for Southport and made 131 appearances for the Sandgrounders and scored 31 goals before being snapped up by then-League Two newcomers Morecambe in 2007.
After a year`s stint with the Shrimps, Baker moved to Stockport County and then Coventry in January 2010.
He went on to make 160 appearances for the Sky Blues, netting 21 goals, before moves to MK Dons and Portsmouth preceded a short spell in the Indian Super League with ATK.
He suffered a bad injury and returned to England where, in March 2018, he re-signed for Coventry on a short-term deal.
Manager Nicky Eaden told the club`s website: “I’m delighted to sign a player of Carl’s experience and quality, both in terms of ability and character.”
Baker will be looking to make his debut for the Boro when they travel to Ashton-under-Lyne for the second time this season, this time to face Curzon Ashton. |
