Lawlor, 27, has worked his way through the ranks during his career, beginning life in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League with Ossett Town (now Ossett United).
Midway through the 2012/13 season he moved on to Nethermoor Park to play for Guiseley AFC where he experienced great success in earning promotion from the National League North, scoring the winning goal in the play-off final back in 2014.
An almost ever-present for Guiseley in his five years, he was an integral part of the side that maintained their place in non-League’s top tier.
In February 2018 he headed for pastures new, signing on loan for AFC Fylde for the remainder of the 2017/18 season making his debut in a 3-1 win over Barrow AFC at Holker Street, and he was a large factor in Fylde reaching the play-offs at the end of the season, but they would eventually lose out to Boreham Wood.
In the summer of 2018 Lawlor opted to sign for newly-promoted Salford. However, with chances limited early on opted to join Wrexham.
Lawlor told https://www.wrexhamafc.co.uk: “I can’t wait to get started and help get the club promoted out of this league.
“I’m here to win games. I have experience of getting promotion in the past and that will help. The club have shown trust in me with a two-year deal and that’s really good for us both.”
Manager Sam Ricketts said: “We’re pleased to bring Jake in to the club which continues to strengthen the side that we’ve built here.
“He brings with him a wealth of experience as well as adding more talent to the back-line, and more competition can only be a healthy thing for the team.
“Jake is a talented player who can add that bit extra for us, whilst it’s important going forward that we have players ready to step up and depth in the side will be vital going into the winter months in what is a long hard campaign”. |
