.....Tuesday night`s win at the International Stadium against Gateshead by the odd goal in five.

Dominic Knowles gave Town the lead from the penalty spot on 23 minutes after George Thomson was brought down, but saw his opener cancelled out by Fraser Kerr's powerful header 12 minutes later as the sides went in level.

Steve Rigg struck 7 minutes into the second half to turn the game on its head, but Jack Muldoon levelled 4 minutes later to set up an exciting finish.

With 5 minutes to play, up popped sub Aaron Williams to divert Warren Burrell's shot past Aynsley Pears and seal an important three points with his first goal for the club.

Leyton Orient are the only other unbeaten team in the division and are now second after a comfortable 3-0 home win over ten-man Solihull Moors.

The O`s broke the deadlock right on half-time when Charlie Lee headed past Ryan Boot, but Moors were a touch unfortunate not to have been ahead earlier when Corey O`Keefe and Kyle Storer were both denied by fine saves by Dean Brill.

However, Solihull`s chances of getting anything out of the game were severely hampered just 11 minutes into the second half when they had Jamie Reckord dismissed for two yellow card offences.

Orient took advantage of a tiring visiting side to score two more through Macauley Bonne and sub Matt Harrold min the final 5 minutes.

Overnight leaders Wrexham dropped to third spot after being held to a 0-0 draw at the Racecourse Ground by a resilient FC Halifax Town.

The closest either side came to breaking the deadlock came when Wrexham`s Mike Fondop cracked a 35-yard effort off the crossbar.

Newcomers Salford City picked up their first away win at the top level of non-League football after an impressive 2-0 win at Mill Farm against AFC Fylde.

Tom Walker gave the Ammies a 26th minute lead and after missing a couple of decent opportunities to add to their lead, finally did so after 69 minutes when stellar summer signing Adam Rooney headed in a Nich Haughton cross to make it a happy return to the Fylde coast for former Fleetwood Town boss Graham Alexander.

Hartlepool United shared the points with Barrow AFC at The Super 6 Stadium, as the visitors dug in to frustrate Matthew Bates's side.

It was Pools who dominated the large share of possession throughout the game - despite the visitors missing a second-half penalty - but Bates's side could find no way past a hard-working visiting defence and the game finished goalless.

An early goal from Ross Lafayette ended Sutton United’s run of four games without a win at the Gallagher Stadium against managerless Maidstone United.

Lafayette turned in a low cross from Jonah Ayunga in the 9th minute.

Maidstone came close to an equaliser with a long-range shot from Jamar Loza that hit the bar, while sub Aaron Drinan saw a late shot saved by the legs of `keeper Lee Worgan.

Chesterfield suffered a sixth successive defeat – their fourth 1-0 defeat in a row – as Boreham Wood won at Meadow Park.

An early Jamal Fyfield goal after just 8 minutes proved decisive in the end, but the Spireites did come close to levelling late on when Zavon Hines hit a post and Curtis Weston had an effort cleared off the line.

But it`s worrying times at Saltergate.

Dover Athletic came from behind to hold Kent rivals Ebbsfleet United to a draw at Crabble.

Darren McQueen scored his first goal for more than a year to give Fleet a 12th minute lead.

But Connor Essam's header after 34 minutes ensured it finished all-square as Chris Kinnear's side ended a run of four straight defeats.

Dan Sweeney's first goal for Barnet secured a fourth win on the bounce for the Bees as they won 1-0 at Hayes Lane against Bromley, holding out with ten-men for the final few minutes.

Sweeney got what proved to be the decisive goal after 21 minutes when he headed home from close range for his first goal for the club.

Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe hit the post from 25 yards for the Ravens side and Wes Fonguck struck a Bromley upright 7 minutes before the break.

Both sides forced good saves after the break before Barnet had David Tutonda sent-off in the final minutes for a second yellow card.

Promoted Braintree Town are still without a win as Dagenham & Redbridge achieved their first three-point haul under Peter Taylor.

The Daggers hit the bar through recent signing Tomi Adeloye and home `keeper Elliot Justham had to be alert to prevent Justin Amaluzor from giving the Iron the lead.

But the decisive moment came 6 minutes from time when Dagenham forward Noel Leighton was brought down in the area and Chike Kandi duly converted the resulting penalty to win it for the hosts.

After a poor start to the season, Maidenhead United made it four games unbeaten with a 2-0 win at York Road against injury-hit Eastleigh.

After the Spitfires had come closest to breaking the deadlock when Mike Green`s effort hit a post, the Magpies hit them with two goals in a minute just before half-time.

Josh Kelly scored the opener with a terrific solo run and shot past Graham Stack.

Less than a minute later, Kelly doubled his and Maidenhead`s lead when he picked up a rebound to net from close in.

Eastleigh`s Ollie Dennett had an effort cleared off the line by Ryan Upward midway through the second half, but rarely threatened after that as Alan Devonshire`s side maintained their upward form.
