Byfield enjoyed a long and distinguished playing career which began at Aston Villa and included spells at Preston North End, Walsall, Rotherham United, Gillingham and Millwall before finishing his playing career in non-League football with Tamworth and Solihull Moors.
He won six international caps for Jamaica, scoring one goal and his career stats saw him score 110 goals in 484 appearances across all domestic competitions in his football career.
He was previously player-coach at both Solihull Moors and Tamworth before taking over as manager at Redditch United in May 2016 ahead of joining Stratford in the summer.
