....Lee Bradbury`s men ended a three-game run without a win by beating Hampshire rivals Aldershot Town 2-1 at Westleigh Park on Wednesday night.
However, it was a second successive defeat for a Shots side who now find themselves in the bottom four.
After an impeccably observed minutes silence in memory of former Hampshire FA chairman John Ward, who sadly passed away this week, it was the newly-promoted hosts who started the better.
And it came as little surprise when they took the lead after 27 minutes.
A neatly-worked free-kick finished with Theo Lewis 25-yard effort going in off goalkeeper Jake Cole.
Alfie Pavey perhaps should have made it 2-0 just before the break, but to the relief of the large visiting fans behind the goal, he sent a free header at the far post wide of the target.
The second half saw Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong have a shot from 20 yards saved by Ryan Young, who denied the same player later on from close range.
But, perhaps slightly against the run of play, the Hawks scored a second goal in the 83rd minute when the visitors failed to clear a deep free-kick and former Millwall stalwart Paul Robinson headed past Cole from 6 yards.
The Shots managed to pull one back in the first of 4 added minutes when Dan Holman`s bouncing effort found its way into the back of the net, with Scott Rendell also claiming it.
However, the home side held firm for the remaining few minutes to record three good points.
