McCormick was released from SkyBet Championship side Nottingham Forest in the summer and has been on trial with League One outfit Burton Albion and Spanish side Levante.

McCormick did feature for the Gingerbreads in pre-season as a trialist in the friendly at Spalding United, coming on as a second-half substitute.

Gingerbreads manager Ian Culverhouse told his club`s website: "We were really impressed in pre-season and have been keeping in regular contact with him over the summer. I have been asked about 'the Luke' who came on at Spalding United by supporters, so I'm delighted to be able to get him signed. I'm really pleased with the options he's going to bring us."

The registration was completed in time for McCormick to go straight into the squad for today's Emirates FA Cup tie at Daventry Town.
