The Star have completed the transfer of left-back Paul Weldon from league rivals Newton Aycliffe.

The 26-year-old started his career with Middlesbrough.

He joined Darlington in August 2013 and then went on to have spells with Durham City, Ashington and Guisborough Town before signing for Newton Aycliffe last summer.

Star have also completed the signing of former Blyth AFC midfielder Kyle Oliver.

Oliver arrived at the sadly now defunct Blyth in the summer of 2017 from neighbours Bedlington Terriers.

Oliver started his footballing journey at Ashington and later Cramlington Juniors, then to Sunderland’s academy before moving to Middlesbrough, where he regularly played for the reserves and became captain.

He parted company with Middlesbrough in the closing weeks of his contract and put pen-to-paper for his home-town team Ashington in the summer of 2014.

He joined Bedlington just over a year later.
