The 23-year-old is
the brother of midfielder Ronnie, 24, who re-joined the club this summer for a
second spell.
Connor arrives at
The Millbank after being a regular for National League North outfit FC United
of Manchester last season, scoring 9 goals from 42 appearances.
Having begun his
senior career at Prescot Cables and Skelmersdale United, McCarthy was signed by
Southport where he played in the top division of the National League.
While at the
Sandgrounders, he spent time on loan at AFC Telford United before joining the
Shropshire outfit on a permanent deal in September 2016.
After a being loaned
to NPL Premier Division side Warrington Town early last year, McCarthy was
allowed to leave by Telford at the end of 2016/17 and moved to FC United in
July 2017.
Throughout his
career, McCarthy has been renowned for his work rate and commitment and Linnets
boss Ellison told https://www.runcornlinnetsfc.co.uk: “This is a big signing
for us.
“I'm obviously
delighted to get him in. He had a number of options but chose Runcorn Linnets”. |
