Clitheroe lost 5-2 at home in the Emirates FA Cup First Qualifying Round last Saturday and 5-3 at home last night in the league to local rivals Atherton Collieries.

The former Warrington Town boss won the Division One North title and then took them to eighth in the NPL Premier Division before being replaced.

He then scouted for Altrincham and Darlington whilst he looked for the opportunity to get back into managing which he got in the summer with the Blues.

The Board are grateful for the time and effort that Mellish has committed to the club in the time that he has been with them, and wish him well in any future position that he takes.

There will be more announcements once the situation has been further assessed.
