....by signing forward Joe Thompson and full-back Ross Woodcock.

Given the number of absentees through various ailments and suspension, the duo have joined after impressing during recent trials with the club.

Thompson is an 18-year-old forward who possesses good movement and deceptively good pace.

Previously with SkyBet League Two side Crewe Alexandra, he will add competition to places and provide a different option in attack.

Woodcock was also released by Crewe in the summer after coming through the youth ranks at the club.

The Scot turns 20 later this month and provides another option in a key area of the team that has suffered injuries on both flanks so far this season.

The news comes as Lloyd Bannister was allowed to join Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One West side Atherton Collieries on dual registration terms.
