Wayne Looker, Arnold`s first-team coach from last season, has stepped up to the managerial role.
Looker (pictured) is a highly-regarded coach and feels now is the time for the challenge of the number one spot.
He will add some much-needed continuity and has been at the club through the difficulties during the last term and knows the lie of the land at the Eagle Valley and the challenges that await.
Looker, for his part, his very excited at leading the team and is already preparing hard for the new season.
He told the club`s website: “Last season was a huge disappointment for everyone associated at the club, and it’s fair to say it affected everyone including players, the management team, Board members/committee members, but most of all the fans who are the heart and soul of the football club.
“I have a vision for this football club, and that vision is Arnold Town playing higher than we currently find ourselves, having a pathway where the academy/under-18 players are able to progress into the first-team.
“My vision for this football club is to bring the community back to Eagle Valley, and to bring back the good times, pride and a feel-good factor to Arnold Town Football Club.
“I’m under no illusions that this will be a tough league and a tough season, but I’m willing to fight to the very end. I’m very lucky to have two very good people working alongside me and hope that collectively we can push this club forward.”
Looker will be assisted by Rob Musson, who has a wealth of experience playing at Northern Counties, Central Midlands and Notts Senior League level, playing for the likes of Blidworth Welfare, Rainworth Miners Welfare, Kimberley Town and Clipstone as well as two years as a pro at Mansfield Town in his younger days.
Musson is confident that he has the contacts to attract new players to the club and will be working hard to maximise the playing squad.
Looker and Musson will be backed up by former manager Ray Chilton.
Chilton has played a key role in bringing things together during the close season and will assist the manager and assistant and has already been contacting players and will continue to back the club off the pitch as in previous seasons.
These appointments should add both stability and give Arnold the impetus for a much-improved season - and all are keen to really get the club moving in the right direction. |
