Lovell joined Hertford at the start of the 2016/17 season following their promotion from the Spartan South Midlands League.

He signed for the Blues from Welwyn Garden City, with whom he had two spells, sandwiched by a period with St Margaretsbury.

Lovell is a very versatile, hardworking defender who the Waders are delighted to have snapped up.

Coach Eddie McLoughlin, who joined the Waders earlier this summer as part of Lee Allinson`s new management team, said: “I’ve worked with Jay for a couple of seasons now. He is a very hardworking lad that wears his heart on his sleeve. He will give everything for the club”.
