Davies announced his resignation via social media on Monday night: “After consideration I’ve decided to step down as manager of Croydon FC,” Davies tweeted.
“Tough job from off and not worked how we wanted it to.”
The Trams are without a win this season to date and lost 1-0 at home to Bearsted and are bottom of the table.
They also lost chairman Martin Burr at the end of last season, with Lance Roberts still fulfilling the `acting chairman`s` role.
Davies was appointed as Croydon`s manager in May.
He replaced Harry Hudson, who was in charge at Croydon Sports Arena for just one season, when he guided the club to a top five finish.
Davies, 29, played in the Liverpool, Everton and Manchester City`s academies before spending two years at Morecambe and then a spell at AFC Bournemouth.
The winger also enjoyed success in non-League football with Burscough and Stalybridge Celtic, as well as in the USA with New Orleans Jesters.
He also played Bostik (Isthmian) League football for the likes of Leatherhead, Horsham, Wingate & Finchley and Margate.
