Evans becomes Paul Smith’s fifth signing since becoming Reds boss, joining the likes of Robbie Bunn, Sam Tye, Ed Wagner and Dave Reynolds at The TRICO Stadium.

The centre-back has been described by Smith as a “coup for the club” and will be available for the trip to Biggleswade Town on Saturday, subject to FA approval.

Smith told the club`s website: “I rate Rob highly; he has everything that a top central defender needs. He has a great work ethic, with a hunger to win football matches, so he fits into the mould of players that I want to play for Redditch United”.
