The 32-year-old joined the Gladiators in June having hit the headlines during the last campaign when he found the net an amazing 52 goals for NCEL Division One side Shirebrook Town.

 

Then-Matlock manager Dave Hoole had to fight off competition to secure the signing of Watson, with several clubs believed to be chasing the signature of the experienced striker.

 

Watson has represented a range of non-League clubs during his career, including the likes of Staveley Miners Welfare, Hucknall Town, AFC Mansfield, Sheffield FC and returns for a second spell with Hallam FC.
