Fell, resigned last night as boss of NPL Division One West side Ramsbottom United and joins the club after recently re-locating back to the City where he attended university and lived previously for five years.
The Dolly Blues' chairman Stuart Houghton told the club`s website: “I am extremely pleased to welcome a manager with the passion and experience Mark possesses. He and his assistant Graham Lancashire bring a different dimension to a very challenging and highly competitive league.”
Ramsbottom have progressed well under Fell’s leadership since he took sole charge over the club in January 2017, a change that saw an improvement from eighteenth place to tenth with a run of ten unbeaten games.
The club will be hoping Fell can now build on the great work Craig Stanley and Matt Blinkhorn have been doing as caretaker bosses in the past couple of weeks.
Fell was thrilled to join the Dolly Blues, saying: "I'm delighted to be joining Lancaster City Football Club, after spending time with the board it is clear that the ambition and direction of the club match that of my own.
“It's a club with great history and I'm excited to be leading us into our next chapter, whilst there is clearly much work to be done in terms of improving current league position, we have a good squad in place who I'm looking forward to working with.
“It's a fresh start for the club and an opportunity for the people of Lancaster to come out in force this weekend to get behind the lads when we host Basford at Giant Axe". |
