Benfield have parted company with former Darlington player Mark Convery as manager by mutual consent, with the side fourth bottom of the table, just three points above the relegation zone.

Convery, 37, had two spells with the Quakers as a player, before dropping into non-League football and playing for several clubs, before joining Benfield in 2012.

He was initially joint-manager with Paul Brayson after Steve Bowey departed the club.

Ironically, prolific striker Brayson has now been put in temporary charge for tomorrow’s game while applications for the vacant position are vetted.
