Hayden-Smith returns to the Specsavers Stadium from Bostik South Central side Egham Town following a successful stint last season - the highlight being a brace at Sutton United.

Kirwan is a young player, who at only 18, was part of Gary Waddock's first-team squad at Vanarama National League outfit Aldershot Town last season.

Bird told https://www.mersthamfc.com: "Tayshan was keen to return, so we were able to wrap up the deal very quickly.

"We were looking at various options to replace Dan Bennett, so Tayshan fits the profile perfectly.

"Eoin is an excellent young player with undoubted potential. He is comfortable in possession of the ball and has made a good first impression on his new team-mates."

The manager also confirmed the departures of Dan Bennett and, more recently, goalkeeper Chris Haigh.

"We received an approach from Heybridge Swifts and Chris was keen to go. He wants to play and with the signing of Amadou, that was going to be very difficult at Merstham. We would have liked Chris to stay and fight for his place but understand and respect his decision. He's a great lad and we didn't want to stand in his way.

"Dan has had a frustrating time and we understand that. At 30, he has probably reached the time in his career where he needs to play week in, week out.

"With the introduction of a couple of new players, perhaps he wouldn't achieve that with the regularity he needs to at Merstham.

"He leaves us with many good memories of some magic moments, particularly in his first year at the club. We wish him well with his new challenge in the Southern League with Walton Casuals".
