Hayrettin took over during the club's relegation season in October 2016 and steered the Iron to a best ever Second Round appearance in the Emirates FA Cup with wins over both Bromley (4-2) and Eastbourne Borough (7-0) before bowing out of the competition at Millwall.
In the league, Hayrettin initially turned the club's fortunes around, including a memorable 'odd-goal-in-nine' victory at Southport that lifted the side out of the bottom four, before financial restrictions in the last two months of the season coincided with a poor run that left the club just one win adrift of safety.
Chairman Lee Harding told http://www.braintreetownfc.org.uk: "We are grateful to Hakan for agreeing to help us in the short-term. He will take tonight's County Cup tie at home to Canvey Island and the next couple of games - while we go through the applications for the first-team role."
Hayrettin said: "Really happy to be back. I'm looking forward to helping out and we'll see where it goes from there".
