Duncan and Murray join the club from Potters Bar Town, where last season they led the Hertfordshire club to promotion into the Bostik League Premier, this season they have comfortably settled into the top ten of the new higher division.

They will be under no illusions as to the task ahead following Chesham’s 7-0 defeat at Beaconsfield Town on Tuesday night.

In announcing the appointment, chairman Brian McCarthy told https://www.cheshamunited.co.uk: “Our current league position makes this one of the most important appointments the club has had to make, with myself and the Board 100% confident that we have made the right decision. Over the past couple of weeks, we have had a huge amount of applications to look through, we narrowed those down to a number of interviews conducted this week and are excited to have been able to attract James and Michael to the club.

“The Board have been very open and transparent with regards to the playing budget, expectations and the culture of Chesham United and we are all now confidently looking forward to a new era at the club. It has been over twelve years since we have had a completely new management team in the dugout and performances this season have suggested that now is the time for fresh ideas, new energy and a revitalised dressing room.”

The new management team starts the job with immediate effect and ahead of his first session with the team, Duncan commented: “The opportunity to manage a club like Chesham United was simply too great to not want to take on. Last weekend’s large crowd at The Meadow highlighted the potential this club has and having spoken with the Board the vision for the future is very much something that Michael and I want to be a part of and we feel that we can play a significant role in taking Chesham United forward.

“We have a very clear short-term goal that we are immediately working towards, and a longer-term plan for the future of the club. We look forward to keeping supporters further updated as we start to settle into our new positions”.
