Lafayette joined the U`s in summer of 2017 from Dover Athletic and scored 15 goals in 53 games for the club, including four in the league this season.

He previously had a prolific two-year spell at Welling United, scoring 19 goals as they won the Conference South championship in 2013 and almost matching that total in the National League the following season, earning a move into the Football League with Luton Town.

He also played for Eastleigh before joining Dover at the start of the 2016/17 season and had a spell on loan at Maidstone United during last season.

Manager Paul Doswell told https://www.suttonunited.net: “We had an enquiry from Dean Brennan at Billericay with regards to Ross and have agreed to his immediate transfer.

“Billericay have offered Ross a really good contract which includes a deal for next season and an option for a further year thereafter, and at this moment we were not in a position to talk with regards to next season.

“Ross was a big part of our success last season and was a pleasure to work with, and this opportunity is perfect for him as it allows him to work as a recruitment manager during the day and train in the evenings. We wish him all the best for the future.

“We are also very keen to see Jonah Ayunga and Aaron Drinan keep progressing and at just 21 and 20 respectively they are showing real promise. As I alluded to last week, managing the budget is always a priority and this certainly was a factor in agreeing to the move”.
