Russell has spent the last month with the Rooks.

He is a commanding centre-half, previously with Hoddesdon Town and Northwood, and is very comfortable on the ball and featured in Aveley`s friendly against Dartford last Monday.

He was also on the bench against table-toppers Basildon United in the 2-1 win.

Millers boss James Webster told the club`s website: "Joe was recommended to us by a friend of James Roach. He's played Monday against Dartford and after a very impressive performance we was very pleased Joe agreed to join us from Lewes.

"Joe is a 6`2” centre-half with all the attributes that we look for; he talks well, he's a good leader and is very comfortable in possession, something that is very important to us and our style of play".
