Alex Knaggs joins from league rivals Bridlington Town.
A centre-half by trade, Knaggs can play anywhere along the back line as well as in central midfield, meaning his versatility is a huge asset.
Strong, commanding, Knaggs is a player who will get the job done, he’s sturdy, rarely makes errors and will calmly go about his business. He was at Bridlington for a few years and was constantly pulling out top-drawer performances.
Swans boss Dave Ricardo told the club`s website: “Alex Knaggs is a players` player in the sense that others enjoy playing with him as he keeps the ball moving and does the underrated work that some do not see when watching.
“He is equally comfortable in a number of positions which is a credit to his football intelligence, this is the season for me that will show him at his best as he will prove a key player."
Ricardo has also signed young striker Joel Sutton, also from Bridlington.
The youngster joins Barton with already an impressive pedigree.
While with the Seasiders he scored over 100 goals, with his 100th actually coming against the Swans in the game at Queensgate last season.
A clinical player with a deadly touch and lethal finishing ability, Sutton comes into a strong Swans side and adds a degree of flair and firepower.
Also, more-than-handy at set-pieces, Sutton can win games for the club on his own.
Once he left Bridlington, Ricardo wasted no time in bringing the youngster to the Easy Buy Stadium.
Sutton has been with the Swans before, so will start his second spell at the club looking to help Barton fire their way up the table.
Also a former Hull City academy player, Sutton has plenty of potential, and has the ability to win games for the Swans for years to come.
Ricardo said: "Joel is a player who has lit up the league for a number of years at this level week in week out.
"I know from personal experience he is a man who can take a game away from the opposition in the blink of an eye via a through ball or a calmly slotted finish.
"His link play will add another dimension to our play, and I can see him becoming a fans favourite in no time". |
