Bosma made 37 appearances for the Rooks last season, scoring 7 goals.
He was spotted by Coventry’s scouts earlier this season, but the Sky Blues allowed Bosma to finish the season with the Rooks before completing his signing.
Lewes manager Darren Freeman is sorry to see the midfielder go but says it’s another sign of how the club helps develop young players for professional careers. He told his club`s website: “That’s the sort of club we are, we’re not going to stand in a player’s way. That’s another player who’s gone on to a professional club and hopefully that shows young players that we can help them achieve their dreams.
“Bouwe has impressed everyone at the club with his professionalism since signing last summer. The player made the two-hour journey from his home in Southampton to Lewes for training twice a week yet was still often the first player at the training ground. Darren says he deserves his chance at the professional game.
“Bouwe’s a good, hard-working lad and I wish him all the very best at Coventry.”
Bosma said he enjoyed his season with the Rooks: “Everyone’s been unreal - the lads have been unreal and the fans have been unreal.
“I’ve loved it, absolutely loved it. And getting promotion was the icing on the cake.”
The 22-year-old says the interest from Coventry came out of the blue: “I didn’t expect it, to be honest.
“I kept my head down and just worked hard. That was my first full season, really where I’ve been involved most of the time and I’ve really enjoyed this year”. |
