.....a two-goal defeat of Bemerton Heath Harlequins.
These are sad times for the Wiltshire club, long-time stalwarts of the Premier Division, who now find themselves occupying bottom place in the table.
Bashley, after two heavy defeats, returned convincingly to form in scoring seven and conceding just one against Cowes Sports - a fourth consecutive loss for the visitors.
Dan Munday led the way with three goals. Lymington ended a long run of losses in emphatic manner beating Tadley Calleva 4-1 with two goals from the evergreen Mike Gosney – Tadley have now not won in five – and Shaftesbury defeated Fareham Town 5-2 at Cockrams with two goals apiece for Nick Hewlett and Greg Peel.
And success for two teams in the lower reaches of the table. Team Solent won by the odd goal in three at Christchurch, whilst Andover New Street gained a hard-earned and valuable point in a two all draw at Portland who had scored six in each of their last two matches.
In Division One, following Amesbury’s win on Friday night both leaders Hythe & Dibden and AFC Stoneham dropped points on the road.
It needed a last-minute goal from Robbie Pittman to salvage a point for Hythe at near neighbours Fawley AFC, while Stoneham shared two goals and the points at Verwood Town, thereby maintaining their unbeaten record.
Romsey Town, very much the form team at the moment, made it four wins in a row with a 3-2 defeat of Laverstock & Ford before a healthy attendance of 123.
The Wiltshire side lost five four last week – they can score goals but too often concede more.
Lewis Beal scored twice as US Portsmouth condemned New Milton to another defeat – 4-0 – and Alton Town beat Totton & Eling by the odd goal in five at Anstey.
No goals between Whitchurch United and Petersfield Town at Longmeadow, although one imagines the visitors will be the happier with the point but as in the Premier Division success on the day for two sides near the bottom.
Jamie Mansell scored a hat-trick in Follands Sports 5-0 win over East Cowes Vics – the visitors away form at odds with their home performances again- and in the battle of the bottom two, Ringwood Town’s 2-1 victory over Andover Town was just their second win of the season and the two sides swapped places in the league.
