Former Darlington full-back Liam Marrs headed Dunston into an early lead from a left-wing free kick, but Marc Ellison levelled from the penalty spot after Nathan Steel was pushed to the ground.

Dunston regained the lead when the ball looped high in the air above the Shildon six-yard box, and Michael Pearson reacted first to turn it home midway through the half.

Dunston made sure that they stretched their unbeaten start to nine matches when Mark Fitzpatrick headed in a left-wing cross just after half-time, and he added a fourth from the spot after a foul by the Shildon defence in the last minute.
