Lamar Johnson
Lee Connor is overseeing team affairs at Bostik League North club Basildon United until a new manager is appointed...

....following the departure of Marc Harrison earlier this week.

 

And he`s certainly not let the grass grow under his feet, adding no less than eight new signings.

 

He has signed experienced goalkeeper Lamar Johnson as well as Jeffrey Cobblah, Steven Sardinha, Ryan Reed, Aundre Spencer, Ashley Pibworth, Grant Webb and Robert Hodgson.

 

Johnson had played at youth level with Charlton Athletic and Thurrock before playing for Concord Rangers, Aveley and Romford and then joining Grays Athletic for the first time.

 

He returned to Aveley in 2016 and he received all three of the club's player of the year awards.

 

He re-joined Grays and after time out from football, came back and went on loan out to Tilbury, Soham Town Rangers and Chelmsford City before returning for a second spell with Aveley.

 

He joins from Essex Senior League side Stansted.

 

Cobblah is one of several recruits from Essex Senior League Premier Division side Clapton.

 

He was the Tons` top goal scorer before leaving the club to joining Bowers & Pitsea last year.

 

The winger has been in prolific form since returning to the Tons this campaign finding the net 20 times.

 

The youngster originally joined Clapton in the summer of 2017 after impressing at Jolof Sports in the Essex Alliance where he scored 31 goals in 25 games.

 

He was also previously with Bethnal Green United.

 

Twenty-one-year-old Sardinha follows Cobblah from the famous Old Spotted Dog Ground.

 

He was previously on the books at Waltham Forest and Bishop`s Stortford.

 

And both Reed and Spencer have also made the same journey.

 

Winger Reed was in his second spell with the Tons after being with Barking.

 

He has also been on the books at Redbridge and Romford.

 

Spencer has been around the Essex non-League scene for some time, taking in spells with Barkingside, AFC Hornchurch, Waltham Forest, Brentwood, Dagenham & Redbridge and Heybridge Swifts after starting out at Luton Town.

 

Pibworth is a midfielder who joins from another Essex Senior League outfit, Barkingside.

 

He has previously been with Burnham Ramblers and Herongate Athletic.

 

Webb is a forward who re-joins Basildon from Burnham Ramblers.

 

He was formerly with Waltham Forest.

 

Hodgson joins from high-flying Essex Senior Leaguers Hullbridge Sports.

 

The defender started his career with Ipswich Town and has also taken in spells with Aveley and Coggeshall Town.
