The 24-year-old signed for the Shakers in July on a two-year deal after scoring 26 goals in 63 appearances for Chester FC and Stourbridge and has spent the first two months of the 2018/19 season on loan at National League side Maidenhead United.

In a bid to help Archer’s development as a full-time footballer, both clubs recognised that this move would benefit each other and give him the platform to showcase his talent.

Southport boss Liam Watson told https://southportfc.net: "He’s a powerful striker and someone we’ve known for a while would strengthen our team. I’d like to thank everyone at Bury for their hard-work in allowing him to come here and hopefully the fans are excited to see him in action!"

After being granted permission to play in the Emirates FA Cup and Buildbase FA Trophy, Archer will be involved in tomorrow’s match-day squad.
