....Vanarama National League South neighbours Gloucester City following their submission of a seven-day approach.
Following last weekend`s game against Loughborough a discussion was held with Weir with regards to the approach from Gloucester and he admitted he wanted see what offer was on the table.
On Monday, Worcester agreed to waive the notice 24 hours early to enable the two parties to speak and shortly after Weir informed the club of his decision to move on.
Ledbury-based Weir - a former Gloucester player - had initially agreed to join Hereford club Westfields for the upcoming season.
But in a sudden change of heart the 27-year-old decided to ditch the Hereford outfit in favour of a return to Worcester.
Weir made his debut for City in 2012 and was in the team that memorably reached the second round of the FA Cup in 2014.
Despite the club’s three-tier drop last summer, Weir stuck by Worcester manager John Snape as he went on to make 28 appearances in the 2017/18 campaign.
Weir is a City `legend` and although his departure is a massive blow, the club will not stand in the way of players who wish to test themselves at a higher level. |
