The
Haworth Park side revealed that, after almost three years in charge, it was
mutually agreed that Bill Gill would leave the club with Leon Sewell and Chris
Burke taking over from neighbours East Yorkshire Carnegie.
A
statement read: "We would like to thank Bill for everything he has done
over his term at the club and he has worked hard with the club and with
bringing the youth through to the first team.
"Bill
has been a stalwart supporter of the club and has had 1,445 days at the club
with 1,080 in charge.
"Bill
has also backed all decisions made by the board and he has fantastic drive and
aspirations for the future, and we wish him well."
Chairman
Darren Sunley added: "I see Bill as a true friend, in football you meet
many people, and everyone moves around. Bill has been a great asset to the club,
and I am sure we will meet again in football and it will be a pleasure."
On
the appointment of Sewell and Burke, the club said in a further statement:
"The club hopes to retain the players that have been brought through the
club and shown their dedication in the previous season. This is a new challenge
for us, and this is a fresh start."
Sunley
said: "I welcome Leon and Chris into the club, not only to manage the
first team but also to be involved with the other aspects of running a club.
"They
have a proven record and have a wealth of experience, so I am excited for the
year ahead as are the full committee."
Sewell
added: "First of all, I must thank everyone involved with East Yorkshire
Carnegie for making myself and assistant manager Chris Burke feel welcome at
the club.
"Discussions
have happened very quickly and it’s all been a bit of a whirlwind experience
for all parties.
"It’s
on to the next chapter in mine and Chris’ management career and was ultimately
an opportunity we could not turn down, more so for myself playing at the club
some fourteen years ago.
"Chris
and I are looking forward to getting started, more so speaking with the club
players from last season of which it will be a blank canvas for both old and
potential new players.
"I’d
also like to thank Darren and the club committee for showing their faith and
trust in myself and Chris as we look to hit the ground running sooner rather
than later.
"I’m
looking forward to meeting with all associated with the club and with the right
togetherness, who knows what the forthcoming season will hold for us."
Also
joining Rangers from Carnegie is Dave Reader who comes on to the committee
having stepped down as chairman, secretary and treasurer at his previous club
last month.
