Signing Coup by Jockeys
Michael Shinn, player-manager of Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division club Newmarket Town, has pulled off something of a coup by signing defender Joe Robinson, midfielder James Seymour and striker Mark Lovell.

Twenty-two-year-old Robinson made his one appearance for Ipswich Town during an FA Cup tie against Portsmouth in 2016. He started last season with Cambridge City before switching to King's Lynn Town.

He went on to feature on 10 occasions for the Linnets as they secured promotion to the National League North via a 3-2 win over Warrington Town in the `Super Play-Off` final.

However, he will not be making the jump up to Step 2 with the Norfolk side and instead has opted to turn out for the Jockeys alongside his brother Ben, who joined Newmarket in January from Cambridge City.

Seymour returns to the club having first joined the Jockeys in October 2016 after a lengthy stint with Ely City, where he wore the captain's armband.

He re-joined Ely twelve months later before switching to Mildenhall Town ahead of the 2018/19 campaign getting under way.

He made 35 appearances for Mildenhall at Step 4, but after their relegation he will now come up against Ricky Cornish's men in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division next term.

And striker Lovell has also joined the ranks at the Bloorie.com Stadium following a term in which he started out in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division with Haverhill Rovers, scoring 6 goals in 29 appearances before making the jump up to Step 4 with Bostik League North side Soham Town Rangers in February.

He went on to feature on 7 occasions – scoring once – as the Greens preserved their status for another season.
