Both midfielders were members of league rivals Wealdstone side that came close to promotion.

Monakana was released by Wealdstone at the end of the season and has now signed a one-year deal with Hamlet.

He had signed for the Stones from another league rival, Welling United, in March 2018.

He was a youngster at Arsenal before joining Preston North End first team.

He made 49 appearances for Preston before joining Brighton. He was loaned out to the likes of Crawley Town, Mansfield Town, Carlisle United and Bristol Rovers and to SPL side Aberdeen before a spell in Romania with FC Voluntari and then moved to Sutton United where he was loaned out to Welling before joining the Stones.

Smith arrives with a wealth of experience at National League level and above after deciding to seek pastures new in the wake of Wealdstone's near miss for promotion.

He joined the Stones in November 2018 from National League side Maidenhead United.

The versatile player became popular with York Road regulars for his tough-tackling style since signing for the Magpies in November 2015.

He scored the first of his 8 goals in the Stripes on debut against Bideford, making 59 starts and appearing on the substitutes bench on a further 79 occasions, including the memorable 3-0 success at Margate which saw Maidenhead crowned National League South Champions in April 2017.

Much-travelled, after starting his career with Port Vale, he moved on to have spells with Scottish side Clyde, Wrexham, York City, Chester FC, Nantwich Town, AFC Telford United, Chelmsford City and Hayes & Yeading United as well as a host of loans.
