The
talented 21-year-old quickly emerged as one of Pools` boss Craig Hignett’s main
summer targets after he produced a series of dazzling displays whilst on loan
at the club in the second half of last term.
Molyneux
scored twice in 16 appearances, including an unforgettable stoppage time winner
against Dover Athletic in March on an afternoon when Pools came from two down
to triumph 3-2.
As
well as offering a goal threat, the versatile attacker’s direct and determined
style created plenty of opportunities for his teammates and he finished the
campaign with three assists to his name.
When
he confirmed his departure from boyhood club Sunderland last week, many had
tipped him for a move in to the EFL but Pools have beaten off significant
competition to secure his signature.
Having
already landed highly rated England C keeper Ben Killip and completed the
permanent signings of former loan men Nicke Kabamba and Michael Raynes,
Molyneux’s arrival is another massive boost for Pools ahead of a return to
pre-season training next week.
