The left-back joins from league rivals Chesterfield, where he spent the 2018/19 season, with loan spells at Dover Athletic and Boston United within that time.

At just 22-years-old, Smith has made over 50 appearances in the Football League having featured for Barnsley, Crawley Town, Northampton Town and the Spireites within the top four flights of English football.

Smith started out with his home-town club Barnsley, signing a professional deal in 2014 and enjoying loan spells at Bradford Park Avenue and Crawley during his time at Oakwell.

After leaving Barnsley, Smith spent a season in the National League with Gateshead, then League Two with Northampton, before signing for Chesterfield for the 2018/19 season.

Smith joins Connor Hall, Scott Brown, Brendan Kiernan, Will Smith and Jon Stead in joining the club this summer to date.
