The 27-year-old, no-nonsense centre-back arrives
having been much sought after by NPL clubs after an excellent season.
The defender`s progression
has been a rapid one - a late bloomer who was plucked from amateur football to
play in the North West Counties with the likes of Padiham, Colne and Nelson
before a move to the NPL in the summer of 2016 and his stock has continually
risen following consistently strong performances.
His ‘old fashioned’
defensive style has made him a popular figure amongst supporters of the clubs
he’s played for.
The
move sees Thompson back under the guidance of Dolly Blues manager Mark Fell who
knows exactly what to expect, telling https://lancastercityfc.com: “He’d head bricks if
you asked him to, he’s got great physical and technical attributes for a
defender and just as important a massive desire and will to win, he’ll benefit
from the professionalism in our dressing room and I think he’s got the
potential to step up to be a top defender”.
