Busy Ben Strevens, manager of Vanarama National League club Eastleigh, has signed Sam Smart from Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South side Basingstoke Town.

Smart is a highly rated young winger who had trials at Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland during 2018/19.

 

He has played for Basingstoke for his entire career and has previously worked under Eastleigh assistant-manager Jason Bristow when he was managing at the Camrose.

 

During the 2017/18 season Smart scored 20 goals in 41 games for Basingstoke and managed 2 goals in 11 appearances last season.

 

Strevens told https://www.eastleighfc.com: “Sam is a player who Jason and I know well, especially Jason from his time at Basingstoke. He is an exciting young player who has had a lot of interest from teams all over the country. I am hoping to help him to improve over the course of the next season and I am sure he will make a real impact in this team”.
