A left-footed central defender, Atkinson signed for Fulham for a £30,000 fee from Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South side Basingstoke Town.

Last season was on loan with Braintree Town in the Vanarama National League, making 15 appearances.

Atkinson played under Eastleigh`s assistant-manager Jason Bristow when he was previously the manager at Basingstoke.

Manager Ben Strevens told https://www.eastleighfc.com: “Rob’s a lad that Jason knows very well. He worked with him at Basingstoke. He`s a left-sided centre half, very comfortable on the ball, drives out from the back. Jason actually sold him when he was Basingstoke manager to Fulham for £30,000. He had a couple of years at Fulham and it’s a testament to the lad that he just wants to play men’s football.

“He had a taste of it really young and he just wants to get back to it. He doesn’t like under-21’s or under-23’s football. He went on loan to Braintree last season for the last 15 games and did really well. I had a lot of good reports about him, there was a little bit of other interest as well, so he was one I was keen to get done.

“He’ll be good for us next year. With the other centre-halves we have already here it’s going to make him fight for his place, but he’s up for that challenge and he’s certainly shown he is good enough for this level.”

Midfielder Partington re-joins the Spitfires from SkyBet League One side Bristol Rovers.

Originally with AFC Bournemouth, he made over 50 appearances for the Cherries, scoring against Swansea City in 2008 to become Bournemouth's youngest ever goalscorer.

Partington spent time on loan at Eastbourne Borough and Aldershot Town but suffered a serious knee injury that kept him out for ten months during his time on loan at Aldershot.

After recovering from the set-back, he joined Eastleigh back in June 2015, following the expiry of his deal at Bournemouth, and at the end of the 2015/16 season, Partington completed a clean sweep at the club`s awards evening, winning all four prizes and was made captain of the first team for the 2016/17 season and was signed by Rovers for an undisclosed fee in January 2017.

Partington now returns to Eastleigh having made 46 appearances for Rovers in total and helps bolster Ben Strevens` midfield options further after the signing of Jack Payne from Ebbsfleet United.

Strevens said: “I’m delighted Joe has decided to come back to the club and that we have been able to complete this deal. He knows what the club is about and shares our ambitions for the future. He did so well for us in his last spell here at the club and he will be a fantastic addition to the squad both on the pitch with his performances and off it with the younger lads”.
