Ben Hinchliffe arrives at the Easy Buy Stadium
for the 2019/20 season.
The 21-year-old is a former Hull City academy
player who joins up with Dave Ricardo’s squad for the coming season.
Hinchcliffe is a forward whose best position is
as a striker but can also operate on the wing.
He played for Hull’s senior side in an EFL Cup
game against Doncaster Rovers and also had a loan spell with Gainsborough
Trinity at the end of the 2017/18 season, and now he joins the Swans to
spearhead their attack.
Ricardo told the club`s website: “Ben is someone
that I have near enough walked over hot coals to try and get in for over a year
now but he will be worth the wait.
“He comes with a fantastic reputation and
pedigree and will be a superb assist to the club and bring pace and quality to
our front line and it’s up to ourselves to create an environment that gives Ben
the chance to flourish.”
Hinchcliffe is the third signing for the new
season after Reece Moody and Louis Kirk`s arrival were confirmed earlier this
weekend.
Kirk has bags of experience at this level,
having previously played for the Swans, as well as Hall Road Rangers, Goole AFC,
North Ferriby United and Bridlington Town.
He is an all-action midfielder who offers plenty
of options in the middle of the park and knows where the goal is. He bolsters
the midfield options and has experience which can be vital at this level of
football.
After a period out due to injury, Kirk is ready
to hit the ground running with the Swans.
Ricardo was happy to welcome Kirk back to
Barton: “Anyone that’s had the pleasure of seeing Louis playing in the blue of
Barton previously will know the talent and drive the lad possesses. The lad has
a fantastic attitude and my biggest compliment would be if I were a young
midfielder trying to make it at this level I’d look to learn from Louis.
“He adds to a strong midfield area at the club
and has qualities that will push the team on through his desire to be 100% at
all times. Louis is a great fixture in any changing room and will bring the
younger players on both on and off the field!”
Nineteen-year-old Moody joins after an
impressive year at Brigg Town.
He comes with pedigree, having been at Grimsby
Town’s academy growing up. He has since gone on to play for Cleethorpes Town,
Grimsby Borough, and Brigg.
Last season at Brigg he scored 25 goals in 33 appearances,
with 10 assists and 5 man of the matches. This record is impressive considering
his age. He will add some much-needed firepower to the Swans strike force.
Ricardo was happy to finally get his man: “Reece
is a player than we have been closely watching for the last twelve months.
“Lee Thompson and Simon Roche have done a
fantastic job with Reece at Brigg Town with Reece rewarding their faith with a
season full of goals last year.
“After meeting Reece and his family over the
last couple of weeks it was abundantly clear that he has a great attitude and
desire to do well and progress. He will have our full backing this season in
order to fulfil his potential and I see him becoming a fans favourite in the
very near future”.
