Goalkeeper Matt Coton arrives from new league rivals Coalville Town.

He signed briefly for Stourbridge in the summer of 2018 before swiftly joining Southern Division One Central side Coleshill Town.

He had three spells with Coalville, separated by stints at Kidsgrove Athletic, Sutton Coldfield Town.

Manager Brendan Kelly told https://bromsgrovesporting.co.uk: “It’s important we have competition in as many positions as possible, including the goalkeeper area.

“Matt has a good pedigree and a lot of experience at this level so he will be a real asset.”

Kelly has also secured the signature of striker Shaq McDonald from Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division side Mickleover Sports.

After a youth career with Birmingham City, he signed a professional deal with Peterborough United in 2013 and had loan spells with Chester and Histon.

After a brief spell with York City, he signed for Derby County in August 2014 on a two-year deal and although he didn`t make the Rams first-team, he spent time on loan with Cheltenham Town, where he made his League bow, and FC Halifax Town, for whom he played 15 games, scoring 2 goals.

Spells with Nuneaton Town and then Black Country Rangers, where he notched 24 goals in 17 West Midlands (Regional) League games, followed before he had another prolific spell in the Midland League with Coventry United, netting 22 goals in 29 matches which prompted a December 2018 move to Mickleover.

Kelly commented: “I have tracked Shaquille for a while now and I’m delighted we have got him on board.

“He had some better offers from other clubs but chose us and that says a lot about his mindset and character.

“He’s a raw talent with lots of power, pace and quality. He’s a natural finisher and will be a real handful.

“I’m very confident he will very quickly become a crowd favourite.”

Coton and McDonald join Sporting`s earlier signings, Stourbridge legend Leon Broadhurst and former Rushall Olympic defender Joe Hull.
