The Watersiders have strengthened their defence with the signings of Lukas McCartney and James Orvis.

McCartney moves to Gang Warily having played in the Southern Premier South for Gosport Borough in 2018/19, having joined them in July 2018 from Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) Premier side Alresford Town.

McCartney was originally in Southampton's youth academy and has also played for Swindon Town and Eastleigh before joining Alresford where he made 45 appearances in 2017/18.

Right-back Orvis joins from Southern Division One South neighbours Basingstoke Town.

Orvis, who was with Cambridge United and Northampton Town`s academies as a youngster, went on to play for Bostik League North side Soham Town Rangers before joining the Team Solent university side.

During the first year of his sports studies` degree at Southampton Solent University, Orvis was in and out of the Team Solent team. But he became more of a regular as time went on and played 40 games, helping the side to Wessex League Cup and Southampton Senior Cup glory along with a fine seventh-place finish in their debut Wessex Premier campaign.

In 2016 he had a spell playing and coaching with National Premier Soccer League side FC Buffalo.

He then joined Basingstoke in 2018.

Highly rated forward Hisham Kasimu joins from another Wessex Premier outfit, Team Solent, where he had been a regular for the past two or three seasons.

Teenage hot-shot Luke Rae joins from Wessex League side Alresford Town, where he made a big impact when coming into the first team last season.

And last month, Blackfield & Langley announced the re-signing of winger Sam Griffin from Poole Town on a one-year contract.

Griffin joined Poole in the summer of 2018 having scored 20-plus goals for Blackfield & Langley in 2017/18 and has previous Southern League experience with Wimborne Town after starting out with Christchurch.
