Highly rated
23-year-old midfielder George Green has linked up with the Pilgrims following
his departure from league rivals Chester FC.
Green
signed for Chester in July 2018 for an undisclosed fee from Nuneaton Borough.
He was
signed by Everton from Bradford City for an initial £300,000 as a 15-year-old.
His
senior debut came whilst on loan at Tranmere Rovers – scoring on his debut
against AFC Wimbledon in March 2015.
Later
that year, he left Everton and had spells with Oldham Athletic, Ossett Albion
and then Burnley, whilst with whom he had a loan spell at Salford City back in
2017.
In
February 2018, he joined Nuneaton and scored 2 goals in 14 games during an
impressive spell at the back end of the 2017/18 season.
Former Warrington
Town left-back Alex Whittle has, meanwhile, pledged his future to the Pilgrims
to add further defensive options for manager Craig Elliott.
The
26-year-old started his career with Liverpool.
After
being released from Anfield, he joined the Glenn Hoddle Academy in Spain in
February 2011 and the Nike Academy for the 2011/12 season.
He was
signed by Scottish Championship side Dunfermline Athletic in April 2012 and
went on to make 78 appearances in a three-year spell north of the border.
In
September 2015, he signed for then-National League North side AFC Fylde and
moved a few miles down the coast to Southport in March 2016.
In the
summer of 2016, he joined National League outfit York City and made 59
appearances before leaving for League Two side Forest Green Rovers in December
2017.
After a
loan spell back at Southport towards the end of the 2017/18 season, Whittle
moved to Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division side Warrington Town
in September 2018.
Both
players trained with the club for the first time on Saturday, increasing
United's squad numbers to 16 in the process.
