Gowling Makes Bulls Return
08-12-2018 I News Headlines
Vanarama National League North club Hereford FC have signed experienced centre-back Josh Gowling.

Gowling joins the Bulls having been on loan with league rivals Alfreton Town from National League South side Torquay United since the beginning of August.

Gowling joined Torquay in the summer of 2017 after leaving Grimsby Town.

He helped the Mariners clinch promotion to the Football League in 2016.

He has represented a raft of Football League teams during his career, including AFC Bournemouth, Carlisle United, Gillingham, Lincoln City and Hereford United and has made over 400 career appearances

He returns to Edgar Street - where he appeared in 2008 to 2009 - on a permanent deal after he reached a settlement with Torquay.

Speaking to https://www.herefordfc.co.uk, the 35-year-old said that he hopes to bring a composed and commanding presence to the side: “I think I’m quite calm and collected. When the pressure is on, that’s when I come into my own, and I’m a bit more relaxed.

“It’s about seeing out games. When you’re on top, getting that finish, and then when your backs against the wall just being together, being solid and being organised.”

Head of football Tim Harris said: “it’s that experience and calming influence and leadership qualities that we have been lacking. With Josh here, hopefully, that will help us settle down in certain stages of games where we need to just calm things down a little bit.”

Gowling will be available for tomorrow’s trip to Guiseley AFC.
