Ronnie Winn
Bostik League Premier club AFC Hornchurch have announced the signings of George and Ronnie Winn, Charlie Stimson, Joe Christou and James Goode.

George Winn and Stimson both join from Waltham Abbey.

 

George is the twin brother of Ronnie and can play at central defender or full-back.

 

He signed for Thurrock from Redbridge in October 2015 and whilst at Thurrock he made 63 appearances.

 

He moved from Thurrock to Waltham Abbey where he made 13 appearances.

 

He followed Ronnie, who made his Urchins debut on 4th December in the Essex Senior Cup tie against Great Wakering Rovers.

 

Ronnie, a forward who can also play wide left, scored 6 goals in 14 appearances for Waltham Abbey.

 

Previously he was at Thurrock where he made 120 appearances, scoring 31 goals, having joined from Redbridge.

 

Stimson is a centre-forward and son of manager Mark and prior to joining Thurrock he played for Gillingham, Barnet and Tooting & Mitcham United.

 

He was with Thurrock for six seasons making 220 appearances, scoring 70 goals.

 

He moved from Thurrock to Waltham Abbey at the start of the 2018/19 season, scoring 4 goals in 7 appearances.

 

Christou, a midfielder who was previously at Hornchurch during the 2014/15 season, signed from Waltham Abbey where he had made 10 appearances.

 

He started his career at Tilbury before moving to Hornchurch then on to Thurrock where he made 104 appearances, scoring 19 goals.

 

He had a brief spell at East Thurrock United before joining up with Mark Stimson at Waltham Abbey.

 

Goode is a midfielder who also joins from Waltham Abbey where he made 15 appearances.

 

He joined Abbey from Thurrock where he had made 113 appearances, scoring 20 goals.

 

Meanwhile, Leon McKenzie, Leon Smith and Bode Anidugbe have left the club.

 

Of the current squad McKenzie is third in the appearance list having played 184 times for the club stretching back to his debut in February 2012.

 

Only Alex Bentley (262) and George Purcell (254) have made more appearances.

 

Over that time McKenzie scored 64 goals, one of which was the opening goal in the 2012 play-off final against Lowestoft Town which helped secure Conference South football for the following season.

 

He then had spells at Concord Rangers, East Thurrock and Maldon & Tiptree before returning to Hornchurch in 2014.

 

The 2016/17 season was a landmark season for McKenzie, winning the `golden boot` with 37 goals and scooping the supporters` player of the season award.

 

This season he has turned out 19 times, scoring on 3 occasions.

 

Smith first joined the club in August 2015 making 12 appearances that season, scoring on 2 occasions.

 

He returned to the club in September 2018 in the 3-3 draw at Dorking Wanderers and made 11 appearances.

 

Anidugbe signed from Thamesmead Town in November 2018 and made his debut in a 1-0 loss at Bishop’s Stortford on 3rd November.

 

First-team opportunities have been limited for him, making only 5 appearances for the Urchins.
