In
another exciting first for the club, Tim Flowers’ side will enter at the
third-round stage of the competition, along with Wrexham.
Both
clubs were invited to take part after ending the 2018/19 season as the highest
ranked teams still competing in England’s fifth tier.
Last
season, Boreham Wood and Sutton United were the first two English clubs to play
in the competition – clubs from Scotland, Wales, Ireland and England are all
involved in the Challenge Cup.
Twenty-four
clubs will enter in the first round - 4 clubs from Scottish Highland Football
League, 4 clubs from Scottish Lowland Football League, 4 clubs from Ladbrokes
League 2 and 12 Colt teams from Ladbrokes Premiership.
Twenty-eight
clubs will compete in the second round: 6 clubs from Ladbrokes League 2, 10
clubs from Ladbrokes League 1 and 12 first round winners.
Thirty-two
clubs will battle it out in the third round: 2 clubs from Northern Ireland
Football League, 2 clubs from Welsh Premier League, 2 clubs from League of
Ireland Premier Division, Solihull Moors and one other National League club, 10
clubs from Ladbrokes Championship and 14 winners from the second round. |
