Gerrard is a highly experienced central defender who played under manager John Sheridan at Oldham Athletic and Carlisle United, ending last season with the latter.

Yarney and McKay were both on loan with Chesterfield last term, from Newcastle United and Cardiff City respectively.

All three players have signed two-year contracts with McKay joining the development squad.

Manager John Sheridan told https://www.chesterfield-fc.co.uk: “I’ve been a bit patient but I’m just glad to get them over the line. I think they’ll be great additions to what we’ve already got.

“I’ve been trying to get Anthony for a while now and I think he’ll be a top player for us. He’s played at a higher level and he’s just what we need.

“Josef is only young and he’s still learning the game, but I like his attitude and hopefully we’ll bring him on.”

Commenting on the signing of McKay, Sheridan said: “I thought Jack got better and better towards the end of the season. He got stronger and he’s a player I think I can make better”.
