The 18-year-old
defender initially came to the DWB Stadium on loan from SkyBet League Two side Lincoln
City last season.
Now
Watkins has committed himself to the Poachers for 2019/20, despite having
offers from other clubs at a higher level.
And
manager Gary Edgley has shown his faith in the teenager by making him captain.
He told
https://www.bostontownfc.co.uk:
"I'm absolutely delighted that Kyle is on board with us. Everyone's been
asking me if he was going to be at Boston Town again this season and it shows
the direction that this club is going in that he has signed.
"Kyle
is probably the best defender in this league so it's no wonder that loads of
other clubs wanted him. But he's been impressed with the way we're doing things
here and believes this is the best place for him to develop.
"I
also wanted to recognise his loyalty by giving him the extra responsibility of
the captaincy."
Watkins
played a major part in turning the Poachers' season around after Christmas by
shoring up their leaking defence.
He
featured as an unused substitute for Lincoln's first team towards the end of
the season and was named Boston Town's young player of the year. |
